On December 19, 2024, Goa commemorated its 63rd Liberation Day with a series of events honoring the state’s freedom from Portuguese colonial rule. The main ceremony took place at the historic Aguada Fort and Jail Complex in Sinquerim, where Chief Minister Pramod Sawant hoisted the national flag and paid tribute to the freedom fighters. The event featured cultural performances, traditional music, and exhibitions showcasing Goa’s rich heritage. In a special initiative, the Aguada Fort and Jail Complex opened its doors to all Goans free of charge, allowing residents to immerse themselves in the spirit of the Liberation Day.
Additionally, various schools and colleges across Goa organized events such as speech competitions, drawing, and poster-making to commemorate the day.
