The Porvorim Police recently made significant progress in a theft case involving a stolen Royal Enfield motorcycle. The incident was reported on October 25, 2024, when Mr. Sunil Kolekar filed a complaint stating that his motorcycle, valued at approximately ₹159,176, was stolen from the parking area of the Neo Majestic Hotel between October 17 and 19.
In response to the complaint, Police Inspector Rahul Parab formed a specialized team, which included PSI Mandar Parab and Constables Mahadev Naik and Nitesh Gawade. Utilizing reliable information and technical surveillance, the team identified and traced the suspects—Prasad Shankar Punaji and Sagar Devappa Punaji—both residents of Halaga, Belgaum, Karnataka. The stolen motorcycle was successfully recovered from them.
This operation is part of a broader effort by the Porvorim Police, which has been cracking down on criminal activities in the area. Recent reports indicate that the police have been active in apprehending various criminals, including a gang responsible for multiple burglaries and bike thefts, leading to the recovery of properties worth over ₹17 lakhs.
The investigation into the motorcycle theft is ongoing, supervised by HC Surendra Gawade, with further support from senior police officials including SP North Shri Tikam Singh Verma, IPS, and SDPO Vishwesh Karpe.
