In Taleigao, a pressing safety concern has emerged due to a broken cement pipe with sharp edges along the road leading to Odxel, near the University Road junction. This hazard poses a significant risk to both pedestrians and motorists, as it could easily cause injuries or vehicle damage. Despite the recent hot mix treatment of the road, this particular issue remains unaddressed by the Public Works Department (PWD).
Cecille Rodrigues, a dedicated social worker and road safety activist, has been actively advocating for improved road conditions in the area. She has previously collaborated with local citizens and an NGO to map various road safety issues using a digital app, identifying over 38 potholes and other hazardous conditions throughout Taleigao. Her ongoing efforts aim to ensure that local authorities take responsibility for maintaining safe roads.
Rodrigues emphasizes the need for immediate action from the PWD to inspect and repair this dangerous section of the road. She calls upon the authorities to prioritize safety and conduct necessary repairs to prevent potential accidents.
