Shankar Polji recently spoke out regarding the potential impact of the planned road expansion along Porvorim, which threatens to affect the historic Khapreshwar Devastan—a temple deeply cherished by the local community. The proposed road extension would require part of the temple area to be altered or removed, sparking concerns among worshippers and residents about preserving their cultural heritage.

In his address, Polji highlighted the temple’s spiritual significance to the Hindu community in Porvorim, emphasizing its role as a gathering place for devotees and a symbol of the area’s history and traditions. He shared that both he and the local community have approached Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to reconsider the road expansion design to prevent any disruption to the temple.
