Congress President Amit Patkar Opposes Direct Recruitment in Goa, Slams BJP for Job Scam Risks.
Congress President Amit Patkar has recently addressed concerns over the controversial recruitment process in Goa’s government jobs. He criticized the BJP-led government for attempting to bypass the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) in favor of direct recruitment, which he believes could lead to corruption and “sale of jobs.” Patkar has vowed to oppose such moves and cautioned Goan youth against falling for fraudulent promises. He recalled past instances where recruitment processes were scrapped due to corruption allegations, including in departments like PWD, GMC, and the Health Department.
Patkar’s opposition comes after a series of recruitment scandals, such as the 2021 PWD scam, which saw a job scam of ₹70 crore exposed by the Congress party. Similarly, irregularities were discovered in the recruitment of Police Sub-Inspectors in 2022. He emphasized that these attempts to revert to departmental recruitments could be an attempt to facilitate such corrupt practices. Congress is closely monitoring the situation and pledging to protect the merit-based recruitment system.
