Congress President Amit Patkar recently addressed the tragic truck accident on the Bambolim highway, expressing grave concerns over the frequent accidents and worsening road conditions in Goa. Patkar criticized the BJP-led state government for neglecting road safety and allowing highways to become “death traps,” endangering residents and commuters alike. He underscored that these accidents reflect systemic issues, including inadequate infrastructure maintenance and ineffective response measures from the administration.
The Congress leader pointed out that despite past promises of increased safety funding, the government has failed to address key issues, such as dangerous road sections and the high frequency of black spots on major highways. Additionally, the accident highlighted the lack of effective intervention, with Congress calling for an immediate overhaul of safety protocols and the enforcement of stricter road management policies to prevent further incidents.
Patkar emphasized that the state’s focus should prioritize the well-being of citizens over political ambitions, urging that significant improvements to Goa’s roadways are necessary to protect lives and prevent further tragedies on Goa’s roads.
