The 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is set to take place from November 20 to 28, 2024, in Goa, offering a grand celebration of cinema with the theme “Young Filmmakers – The Future is Now.” During a curtain-raiser event in New Delhi, the festival’s highlights were revealed by Festival Director Shekhar Kapur, Union Minister Dr. L. Murugan, and other prominent dignitaries.
IFFI 2024 will feature over 180 films from 81 countries, special tributes to Indian cinema icons such as Raj Kapoor and Mohammed Rafi, and focus segments like “Country of Focus: Australia” and “Treaty Country: United Kingdom.” New initiatives include the “Creative Minds of Tomorrow” program, nurturing 100 young talents, and the debut of the “Best Indian Debut Director” award.
This year, the festival aims to engage broader audiences through its IFFiesta entertainment zone, powered by District and Zomato, featuring live performances, food stalls, and cultural activities along the Riverfront near Kala Academy. Other innovations include inflatable theaters, masterclasses by icons like A.R. Rahman, and accessible features for differently-abled attendees.
