In response to recent statements made by a BJP spokesperson, Kawthankar emphasized the BJP’s failure in South Goa, attributing their loss to public dissatisfaction with the Modi-led government, corruption, and divisive tactics. He condemned the BJP’s efforts to shift blame to religious figures and urged them to reflect on their policies, which, he believes, have alienated voters across religious and cultural lines​
