Chief Minister Pramod Sawant recently visited Old Goa to review preparations for the much-anticipated Exposition of the Relics of St. Francis Xavier, set to begin on November 21, 2024. The exposition, a grand event held once every decade, is expected to attract thousands of pilgrims and tourists to Goa. During his visit, Sawant focused on assessing the infrastructural readiness, including improvements to road access, public amenities, and security measures to ensure a smooth and safe experience for attendees.
The CM also highlighted that nearly 90% of the required work for the event has already been completed, with the remaining tasks expected to be finished by mid-November. This includes road repairs and upgrades to transport facilities around Old Goa, such as the Chimbel and Ribandar areas. Special arrangements, including electric buggies for elderly and differently-abled individuals, as well as increased signage and security measures, are being implemented to cater to the expected influx of visitors.
