On November 21, 2024, Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, and Minister Mauvin Godinho visited Old Goa to seek blessings at the sacred relics of St. Francis Xavier. This marked the beginning of the much-anticipated decennial exposition, which is a significant religious event in Goa, attracting pilgrims and visitors from across the globe.
The 45-day event, running until January 5, 2025, is being treated as an international occasion. The state government has heavily invested in infrastructure improvements, including enhanced traffic management, better sanitation facilities, CCTV installations for security, and electric buggies for elderly and differently-abled visitors. These measures are aimed at ensuring a comfortable experience for the influx of pilgrims. The government has also invited Pope Francis and other international dignitaries to participate in the exposition.
