In a recent press briefing, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant discussed several important decisions taken during the cabinet meeting. He announced the government’s plan to auction iron ore mining leases for about 30-40 sites identified through a survey. The revenue from these auctions could range from ₹300-400 crores, depending on the quality of the ore extracted.
Sawant also spoke about the transfer of land from the Public Health Centre (PHC) in Corlim to the Government of India. This land will be used to set up a modern Rural Health Research Unit, which is part of the state’s efforts to strengthen healthcare facilities.
Additionally, the Chief Minister addressed the recent series of scams in Goa, including land frauds and scams involving properties in Mapusa and Curtorim. He reassured the public that the police are fully involved in the investigations and that no political figures are linked to these crimes. Over 17 new cases have been filed, following the initial one in Curtorim.
