Rama Kankonkar has criticized the direction of the investigation into Goa’s ongoing cash-for-jobs scam, alleging that instead of targeting the perpetrators, authorities are probing how victims managed to pay large sums, such as ₹15 lakh. He questioned the motives of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, asserting that the focus on victims’ finances diverts attention from holding the scam’s masterminds accountable.
The scam, which involves promises of government jobs in exchange for bribes, has unearthed multiple operatives, including engineers, teachers, and politically connected individuals. Arrests have been made, but key figures allegedly linked to political networks remain shielded. While the BJP has praised police efforts, opposition leaders, including Congress and AAP, have called for a judicial inquiry, claiming that only an independent probe can expose those benefiting from the scam. They argue that the investigation is being manipulated to protect powerful individuals involved.
Questions persist about the money trail, as little has been recovered from those arrested so far. Activists and opposition members continue to demand accountability and a thorough investigation
