MLA Vijai Sardesai Accuses Government of Shielding Land Grab Culprits

Goa Forward Party President and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai has accused the state government of deliberately omitting a clear definition of ‘land grabbing’ in the Commission of Inquiry, thereby undermining its effectiveness. He claims this omission has allowed the real masterminds behind the large-scale land grabbing scam to evade accountability.

Sardesai highlighted that out of 48 land grabbing cases, only four have resulted in chargesheets, while the remaining 44 are reportedly being settled, suggesting governmental interference to protect influential individuals. He further criticized the government’s handling of the Commission of Inquiry, led by Justice V.K. Jadhav (Retd.), noting that the lack of a specific definition for ‘land grabbing’ has hampered the investigation. Sardesai emphasized that this issue is not merely about stolen land but represents a broader threat to Goa’s heritage and the rights of its people.

In light of these concerns, Sardesai has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, accusing him of protecting those involved in the scam. He warned that failure to act against the culprits would lead to a statewide campaign to expose the government’s complicity.
