In Panaji, Goa, a Karnataka-registered vehicle committed multiple traffic violations, including entering a no-entry zone, obstructing an ambulance, and engaging in a hit-and-run incident. The driver entered a restricted area where a barricade was placed to prevent unauthorized access, blocking an oncoming ambulance and colliding with an electric car. After being informed by bystanders about the no-entry zone, the driver reversed and fled the scene.
Goencho News reporter present at the scene pursued the vehicle from the Casino Jetty to Kala Academy, approximately 2 kilometers away, and alerted traffic authorities. The police detained the vehicle and its occupants, who initially claimed connections with high-ranking officials but eventually acknowledged their violations. A case has been registered against them for entering a no-entry zone, obstructing an emergency vehicle, and fleeing an accident scene.
This incident highlights concerns about the removal of no-entry signs by pay parking operators, which can mislead drivers and endanger public safety. Authorities are urged to investigate these practices and enforce strict measures to prevent such occurrences, ensuring the safety and well-being of both locals and tourists in Goa.
