The 8th edition of the Aqua Goa Mega Fish Festival kicked off on January 10, 2025, at the SAG Open Field Ground in Campal, Panaji. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant inaugurated the event, accompanied by Fisheries Minister Nilkant Halarnkar and other officials. Organized by the Directorate of Fisheries, the festival aims to celebrate and promote Goa’s fishing traditions.
The three-day event features a range of attractions, including aquarium exhibits showcasing ornamental fish, educational sessions on sustainable fishing, and seafood stalls offering a variety of fresh delicacies. Cultural performances and interactive activities are also part of the festival, emphasizing the fishing industry’s importance to Goa’s heritage and economy.
Open to the public from January 10 to 12, between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., the festival provides an opportunity for visitors to experience Goa’s rich maritime culture and support the local fishing community.
