IT Minister Rohan Khaunte recently spoke about the sudden removal of Internet Service Provider (ISP) cables without prior notice. He clarified that the responsibility for managing cables falls under the IT Department. The government had earlier assured in the Assembly that all service providers must register by September 30th, failing which unregistered cables would be removed.
Khaunte stressed that ISPs installing aerial cables must first register and submit data detailing the number and locations of their cables. He pointed out that the lack of such data has created challenges in infrastructure management. The minister urged all service providers to comply with the registration process to prevent disruptions and ensure a systematic approach to cable management.
