Mla Carlos Alvares Ferreira Inspected the commencement of trial run of the traffic signals at Peddem junction on Sunday, 16th February, 2025.A long standing demand to have a flyover or underpass remained unfulfilled several years and perhaps since around 2016 or so.Nothing was done until I was elected and I was apprised of the situation.Took up the matter with Goa Government and with Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and even me the Hon Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari during his visit to Goa and I was pleased that he accepted my request and approved a Vehicular Over Pass (VOP) at Peddem junction.In the interregnum, considering the fact that the junction poses a danger at the crossing, I requested traffic signals be installed, which again was approved and were since installed and commencement was delayed.We had to meet the Collector (North) for a resolution, who directed the operation of the signals be commenced on a trial basis for a week.This commenced today. It is arduous to push the proposals since there are forces which attempt to stall any good attempt on my part which I have been pursuing, for the good of the people. I have absolutely no personal interest in any project or development work.And I will continue to work for the welfare of the people and none of these forces will be able to stop the works from reaching the people, no matter how hard they might try.
