Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Amit Palekar has voiced strong criticism against the CM Pramod Sawant-led government, highlighting the dangers posed by unresolved traffic signal issues in Merces. Palekar expressed frustration over the government’s inaction despite assurances from the Chief Minister, through AAP MLA Venzy Viegas, that the situation would be handled. Palekar warned that the confusion caused by these signals, along with fines imposed via CCTV cameras, endangers public safety. With the courts reopening on Monday, Palekar predicts that chaos will ensue if the matter remains unaddressed.
Calling for immediate action, Palekar stressed the need to assign traffic police to manage the area and investigate the financial gains linked to the installation of these signals, which were placed by private contractors. He questioned whether revenue generation was being prioritized over the lives of Goa’s citizens and demanded accountability from the current administration.
