In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, Puneet Kumar Goel, the Chief Secretary of Goa, has been appointed Secretary of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. This decision comes from the Union Government and follows a recent Public Interest Litigation against him regarding alleged illegal zoning changes in Aldona, Goa.

Goel, who has been in office since February 2022, will be succeeded by V. Candavelou as the new Chief Secretary of Goa​. This appointment underscores the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure proper representation and advocacy for Scheduled Tribes in the country.
