North Goa Road Safety Committee Calls for Urgent Measures to Tackle Rising Accident Rates.
The North Goa District Road Safety Committee recently convened to address the alarming increase in road accidents and fatalities in the region. During the meeting, committee members emphasized the need for a comprehensive review of accident-prone areas, highlighting 65 specific locations that require immediate attention. A detailed audit of these black spots is planned to identify necessary interventions and enhance road safety measures.
In response to the surge in accidents, which reportedly claimed nearly a dozen lives within a short period, the committee has resolved to analyze ten major incidents involving multiple fatalities. This analysis aims to formulate actionable recommendations to improve safety standards across the district.
The meeting also addressed the critical issue of stray animals, which pose significant hazards to motorists and pedestrians. Authorities are urged to collaborate with the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department to mitigate these risks. Furthermore, the committee plans to implement training programs for volunteers to assist road accident victims during the crucial “Golden Hour” after an incident, thereby improving emergency response efforts
