Amit Patkar, President of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), has expressed strong disapproval of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent comments in Parliament about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Shah had stated that “it has become a trend for the Congress to invoke Dr. Ambedkar’s name.” Patkar responded by stressing that Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions to India and his legacy are highly valued and respected, and such remarks diminish his importance.
Patkar led a protest in Panjim, demanding that Amit Shah apologize for his statements and step down. He emphasized that Ambedkar’s name would continue to be invoked by Congress members, and they would not tolerate any disrespect to his memory.
The protest was joined by Congress leaders and supporters who voiced their opposition to Shah’s remarks and highlighted the significance of Dr. Ambedkar’s work in shaping the nation.
