Boman Irani Unveils Directorial Debut ‘The Mehta Boys’ at IFFI Goa.

At the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Boman Irani shared his excitement about his directorial debut, The Mehta Boys. The film, which he also wrote and directed, began from a simple one-liner pitched to him by filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh nearly a decade ago. Over time, this idea evolved into an emotional and heartfelt family drama, featuring the complex relationship between a father and son. The film takes place over a tense 48-hour period, offering a profound exploration of familial bonds.

Irani spoke passionately about his collaboration with Alex Dinelaris, an Oscar-winning writer, who was deeply involved in shaping the film’s narrative. He described Dinelaris as not just a creative partner but as someone who became like family to him. “We connected on an emotional level, and he became like a brother to me,” Irani said, highlighting the close personal and professional bond they shared while working on The Mehta Boys.
