The Disability Rights Association of Goa (DRAG) recently conducted a sensitization programme aimed at raising awareness about the rights of persons with disabilities (PwDs) across educational institutions and workplaces in Goa. This initiative emphasized inclusive education, barrier-free access, and equal employment opportunities, aligning with provisions of the Disability Act of 2016.
DRAG highlighted issues such as schools and colleges denying admission to students with disabilities, despite legal mandates for inclusive education and reservations. The association continues to push for adherence to the Act’s stipulations, urging institutions to create an accessible environment for PwDs. They also provided support to educational institutions to implement inclusive practices effectively.
