On December 18, 2024, the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) organized a protest march to Raj Bhavan in Panaji, Goa, in response to the recent indictment of industrialist Gautam Adani and his associates by the U.S. Department of Justice. The indictment alleges a network of corruption, fraud, and deceit involving Adani’s business dealings.
The protest aimed to urge the Indian government to take immediate action against Adani and his associates, reflecting the charges brought forward by U.S. authorities. GPCC President Amit Patkar, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, and other prominent Congress members led the march. However, as the protesters approached Raj Bhavan, they were intercepted by police forces. Subsequently, Patkar, Alemao, and nine other Congress leaders were detained for attempting to proceed with the demonstration.
