The Goa Police, under the leadership of Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Kumar, is delving into a significant cash-for-jobs scam that has caused a public uproar. This scandal involves allegations of forged appointment letters and extortion targeting job aspirants seeking government roles. SP North Akshat Kaushal and SP Varsha Sharma are assisting in the investigation to ensure a transparent process.
Key details emerging from the investigation reveal that the scam primarily involves forged documents related to urban development, health, and other sectors. Allegations by Goa Congress Chief Amit Patkar claim that aspirants were duped with fake offer letters, allegedly signed by department heads. Minister Vishwajit Rane, whose portfolios include these departments, has requested the cybercrime cell to investigate Patkar’s claims, asserting that no regular recruitments have occurred within his departments for the past two years.
DGP Alok Kumar has conducted reviews with senior police officials to streamline the probe. The investigation includes scrutinizing documents and call recordings presented as evidence, aiming to trace the roots of the scam and ensure accountability.
