he Late Shri Manohar Parrikar 3rd Goa International Open Grandmaster Chess Tournament 2025 was inaugurated at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Taleigao, Goa. The opening ceremony featured Sports Minister Govind Gaude making the first move against Grandmaster Diptayan Ghosh, marking the official start of the event.
The tournament, which runs from January 11 to 19, has drawn top chess players from across the globe, competing for a prize pool of ₹53 lakh. Participants include Goa’s first Grandmaster Anurag Mhamal, International Masters Ameya Audi and Ethan Vaz, and rising star Ritviz Parab.
