Madhu Anant Naik, President of the Rashtriya OBC Mahasangh in Goa, called for a caste-wise census during a recent media briefing. He emphasized the importance of such a census for ensuring justice and proper representation for the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in the state. Naik urged the Goa government to adopt the approach taken by Bihar, which successfully conducted a caste census.
He highlighted that accurate data on OBC populations would aid in effective developmental planning and resource allocation, advocating for a 27% reservation for OBCs in government positions and the establishment of an OBC Welfare Ministry. These demands reflect a broader concern among OBC leaders about their representation and the need for targeted welfare measures.
