Rotary Club Donates Wheelchair-Accessible Food Cart to Empower Goa’s Disabled Community

In an ongoing effort to enhance the lives of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in Goa, the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities has launched several new initiatives aimed at improving accessibility, mobility, and employment opportunities. In a recent event, a wheelchair-accessible rickshaw, a unique food cart provided by the Rotary Club, was handed over to a local PwD, highlighting the growing network of support services available to Goa’s disabled community​.

Furthermore, the Director spoke about the progress in employment opportunities for PwDs, including their integration into prestigious establishments like Taj properties in Goa. The office is actively holding interviews for more such placements, fostering inclusion in the workforce. He also shared the success of the para-swimming event, which saw nearly 100 swimmers from across the country participate, demonstrating the state’s commitment to sports inclusivity.
